Mozilla Community Rajasthan.

Mozilla Community Rajasthan is a constatly progressing community.
Recently , It launched an awesome program of SIG , ie , Special interest Groups.

On 25 th OCTOBER 2015 a meet up was organized by Reps of the MCR community, Mr. Trishul Goel and Mr. Osho Parth.  The sole purpose of this meet up was to discuss the future goals and targets to be achieved by the Mozilla Community Rajasthan.

Introduction session proved very helpful in calculating the present state of the community.

Many different Points were dicussed and lot of suggestions were proposed. 

 The following points were discussed:

•      Getting a common forum for interaction among the FSAs of various colleges, prime focus on using the hackpad and etherpad for communication. 
• 
  
•       Activities involving coding should be the prime focus.
• 
  
•      A sub mentor from each college under each verticle should be allotted.
• 
  
•          More events should be conducted at school level.
• 
  
•          Promotion of the participation for FSA program from other educational institutes.
• 
  
•      Creation of Individual college etherpads.

The meetup was concluded by snacks and then a small photo taking session.All and all it was a very good meetup and hope that everybody in MCR will work in a more coordinated manner.

After Jodhpur , it was the time of its neighbouring villages to know what mozilla is all about.
For this We organised a small makerparty at MOGRA KALAN , JODHPUR.


The makerparty started with basic introduction of computers and other pheripherals .
Children started to show interest as tis was quite a new experience for them.

The Target Audience was the children of Class 5 and 6 , but I was Told to take a small session of class 4  also.I started Interacting the children of class 5 and 6 merged in a hall. They Seem Quite Interested in Knowing more aboutWeb and its Uses.

        Date: 8th Aug Time: 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

What a Journey it has been , Quiet Overwhelming I must Say . From Knowing Nothing About Makerparties to hosting one. Loving the experience of Public speaking and Evangelism. Now it was the time for Jodhpur To witness Another maker Party. I was told about having an audience of 200 but due to Saturday , The gathering was approximately  120-150.

The Target Audience was the children of Class 11 and 12 , but I was Told to take a small session of class 9 and 10 also.I started with Interacting the children of class 11 and 12 merged in a hall. They Seem Quite Interested in Knowing more about Web and its Uses.

I started the session by Delivering content on What is web and how it is Useful.

I briefed them about what sort of Things they can do on web that can make their life easier including basic things like ticket booking , banking , recharges , shopping , etc. This session turned interesting when students started to put questions on how things are done and I was quite happy to teach them.

Due to Connectivity issues and Lack of Computer Labs , I was restricted to let them have a hands on webmaker but I tried my best to introduce them to its features.The Session stretched about 2 hours and then I was told to switch to junior Classes.

Juniors were even more enthusiastic and were quite eager and curious to learn new things. I introduce them to the internet world and how it can help them in their projects and learning.I also taught them some basic HTML tags.Then I took a small quiz . I concluded the Session by Distributing the swags to the students who answered the quiz questions.

So Its "THE MOZILLA " Surrounding Us !!!

So that is what Wikipedia Describes me about the Mozilla.But Mozilla Is not just a community Its a community holding communities and being a part of it last Sunday at the ocassion of #MozCofee was a great experience for me.

Here is my Views And opinions Regarding Mozcofee.So Mozcofee was the first event by 

Mozilla in Jodhpur under the mentorship of some amazingly talented MozReps and Mozilla 

contributors.In a colllection of some techincal terms Open Source was introduced to all the attendees which proved to be a great learning experience to all of us.

Previously mozilla Events were limited to the Boundaries of Jaipur Only , But this event proved to be a boon for geeks in jodhpur and Surely Recieved enormous Success.Being lucky to be selected in 15 people team to attend the event, it was a proud moment so all of the attendees invested this oppurtunity at their level best.

Meghraj Suthar introduced all , what is Mozilla & the products .He also Told us about the oppurtunities provided by mozilla and how can contributions can be done by us to be recognized as a official contributor.The centre of attraction was the #FirefoxOS and Mozillians  allowed us to take a look at it and take a demo.

At last the FSA Program was inroduced to us which is a platform for emerging geeks to be linked to mozilla.And at last The words got Justified that " A Lot Can Happen Over Coffee ".

Mozilla's $50 Mobile Phones : Will they Attract Users From Indian Mobile Market

The dawn of smartphones has ushered us into a new era of changing working styles and huge rise of two companies on which these smartphones depend. Apple and Google continue to fight over the smartphone space and while Apple is considered the phone to buy with its brand name, Google’s Android has taken the world by storm by its sheer presence.

This bipolar scenario is quickly becoming a monopoly as well. With Google aiming low with its Android One, the next billion phones will most probably be Android run. They are taking “the next billion” so seriously that they are now readying to invest a whopping $1 Billion to subsidize the affordable smartphones even further!

This means that Google will dictate its terms on how we interact with pretty much everything. This scene is not exactly a bad one right now, but such strong power in the hands of one company always ends up badly just because like any monarchy, the system is as good as the monarch and once that changes, so does the style of ruling.

With Google, once Larry Page and Sergey Brin retire or worse are no more, it will be difficult to imagine what will become of all the Androids.

While such thoughts are not on everyone’s mind, most people do think that monopolies are always bad and some even think that Google’s Android is not completely open source and should be. Mozilla is a company of that sort. They have been working on its own operating system- Firefox OS, that aims to be completely open source.

The OS aims to hit the market from the lower end with super-low priced smartphones that need minimal power to give good performance. Backed by 20 mobile operators and 10 hardware makers, Mozilla has the force to become a prominence in the mobile market.

They have already had a beta run in Europe and Latin America where they sold a million phones. This number is not huge compared to its competition but they now are battle tested.

Coming to India, they have tied up with Spice and the first phone should be launched in July itself. Intex business head Sanjay Kumar Kalirona also mentions same things.

The most important point is the price that according to Mozilla COO Gong Li has been kept $50. According to him, ‘with low-cost chip solutions developed by China-based Spreadtrum Communications and cooperation with smartphone ODMs, Mozilla has succeeded in keeping production cost down to US$25 for models carrying retail prices of up to US$50.’

There are two things of note here-

1.      How will Mozilla deal with Android One?

2.     How will Mozilla deal with its lack of app market?

There is a reason why Android is successful and even companies like Samsung are not making any dent with its Tizen and Bada. The app system is developed.

With Android One, Google is attempting to woo the same smartphone makers as Mozilla. Therefore, it is necessary for Mozilla to tackle these problems in order to succeed. This month and the next (August) will tell us how well does Mozilla handle these elephants in the room!

Micromax Unite 2 Launched : Will it prove to be a Rival for MOTO E?

After An Inormous efffort by Motorola to Capture India's Budget Phone Market by MOTO E , Micromax has launched its new flagship phone to maitain its supremacy . The smartphone, named as Micromax Unite 2, is priced at Rs 6,999 as the Moto E.

Powered by a 1.3 GHz quad core processor, the Micromax Unite 2 will be available in 4 bright colors –  Pristine White, Balmy Green, Mystic Grey and Raging Red. The Unite 2 comes with a 4.7-inch IPS display with a resolution of 800x480 pixels. It has a 2000 mAh battery but there is no information as of now about its output.
The Unite 2 is equipped with a 5 megapixel rear camera, an LED flash, and a 2 MP front camera. The rear camera offers a number of features like beauty mode, live photo mode and panorama. The Unite 2 also comes with 21 language support.

It comes with expandable memory of 32 GB and has GPS, Bluetooth v4.0 and WiFi. Micromax has also loaded the phone with several applications including Mad that lets users watch ads, Getit, Kingsoft Office, Opera Mini Browser, etc.

Lets take a look at its rival MOTO E:

The Motorola Moto E was launched. Motorola Moto E has a 4.3-inch touchscreen display with 540x960 pixels resolution. This IPS display has Corning Gorilla Glass coating and is said to have low glare. Moto E is armed with a dual core 1.2 Ghz Snapdragon 200 processor and 1 GB RAM. It is currently based on Android 4.4.2 KitKat and Motorola has promised the next update as well.

The Moto E has 4 GB on-board storage and offers a memory card slot that can hold up to 32 GB micro SD card. Note that it is a dual SIM handset and comes with WiFi, micro USB port, and Bluetooth 4.0. For navigation, it has GPS, GLONASS, and BeiDou. It has FM radio as well.

The Motorola Moto E has a 5 megapixel rear camera with Auto HDR, 4x digital zoom, burst mode, and panorama features. Moto E has no front camera though. It has a 1960 mAh battery that claims to offer up to 24 hours of talktime. It too has a curved back panel, measuring 12.3 mm at the thickest point while 6.2 mm at the thinnest part. It weighs 142 grams.
